Sorel Caribou Snow Boots for Women

Sorel Caribou Snow Boots for Women: The Sorel Caribou Snow Boots for Women feature seam-sealed, waterproof construction for all day driness and a winter weight lining for added comfort and insulation. Complete with a removable 9MM Thermo Plus Felt InnerBoot and insulation, the Caribou Snow Boot will keep your toes toasty in temperature to -40 degrees Farenheit and your calfs warm with its acrylic blend wool snow cuff top. Topped off with Sorel's Aerotrac non-loading natural rubber outsole, these boots will keep you steady on your feet in wet, snowy, and icy conditions.
Customer Review: Probably your best choice for a warm basic snow boot
These 10" high winter boots set the standard for basic cold weather boots in snowy conditions. They're probably the boot most commonly worn by locals in snowy Western mountain towns. But be advised there is not a lot of lateral stability in the sole of the boot. That is to say, the rubber bottoms tend to twist sideways making them, in my opinion, unsuitable for anything other around town use and possibly some work situations. The twisting motion makes traveling off beaten paths, especially climbing hills or side hilling, more difficult and tiring. My seven year old (Canadian made) Sorel Caribou models have somewhat thicker and probably more water resistant leather uppers, but the current (Chinese made) Sorels seem to have more advanced combination synthetic and wool felt liners and apparently much-needed additional underfoot insulation. These boots have a cool look with the faux shearling collars but their relatively modest height means you will need to wear gaiters to keep out snow if you leave beaten paths. Felt lined pacs are typically the warmest boots for the bucks and the liners can be taken out to dry. I've washed my Sorel liners on gentle cycle using wool-friendly soap with excellent results and spraying some Armorall (used to perk up rubber and plastic in cars) on the rubber bottoms keeps them looking great as well. Recommended to anyone who wants a warm, foolproof, traditional looking boot to wear in around-town or to cold weather outdoor events, keep in the car for emergencies and possibly wear to work or riding snow machines in really cold weather.
Customer Review: Sorel Boots
I find these boots to be uncomfortable. I'm not sure if it's the way they were packed (jammed into a box that was too small), but the part of the boot that hits against my ankle is dented in and rubs uncomfortably. They are also big, and I find it difficult to drive while wearing them. I like the looks of the boots and if I can re-shape them, perhaps they'll be fine for walking outside in the snow.

Sorel's entry level cold weather kid's boot. Everything you need and nothing you don't, this boot is at home everywhere the weather is cold. A nylon insulated boot with Sore's hallmark rubber shell and rubber lug outsole for winter traction.
Customer Review: Nice and warm!

For centuries people have dug for them, went in debt for them, some have even stole for them. The incomparable diamond has caused the world over to fall in love with them, the temptation and desire to own them really is simply irresistible.

There is nothing a woman can wear that makes her feel more beautiful than diamonds. When men wear them they might not feel beautiful, but it does give them a feeling of power and success that they do not get from wearing any other gem stone.

The power of the diamond to alter someones state of mind is magical. No one can really explain how they weave this unmatchable spell over people.

Diamonds were first discovered in India several thousand years ago, but did not begin to infiltrate Europe until around the 12th century. In the beginning of this era, only the kings and queens of royalty had access to diamonds.

It was not until later that other minor peerage began to wear them. The first commoner recorded to have worn diamonds was Agnes Sorel. She was a well known mistress to King Charles VII of France in the middle of the 15th century.

Until Agnes, there were laws forbidding anyone but nobles and clergy to wear the mystifying stones, but at that time if you were a mistress of the king, in some cases you might be above the law. In her case, since the diamonds she received was from the king himself, so no one dared to question her.

When in the 1870's the famous mines of South Africa were discovered, the diamonds popularity with average people began an escalation that has never stopped and has gained momentum ever since. Of coarse, the largest and most famous diamonds are still associated with only royalty and the very rich.

Those of us with average incomes are generally lucky to own a diamond of one to three carets. Even diamonds of less than one caret are treasured by the men and women who own them. These smaller diamonds are commonly given as gifts and are always received with great gratitude.

It seems that with a diamond, the size of the stone is not necessarily a factor. It is more just the fact that you are wearing one that gives a great satisfaction. Everyone would love to own bigger diamonds, but if you can not afford bigger, then smaller will do

Youth Cub Boot by Sorel

These Sorel children's boots are made of durable water and wind resistant polyurethane backed Ripstorm nylon. They have a drawstring at the top and a fixed elastic instep strap. They feature a removable 6mm washable, recycled felt InnerBoot. They have injection molded thermal rubber shell and traction enhancing non-marking thermal rubber outsole. The point is...they are waterproof and warm all winter long! Item #138687

It's 8:30 in the morning, and you have been in your tree stand since six. It's clear and 20 degrees out with a slight breeze. Your feet have been cold for the better part of an hour, you hands are numb and you are starting to shake from the cold and you can't stop it. You finally give in and have got to get out of that stand and walk around to warm up.

As your foot hits the ground you hear that old familiar snort of big buck that's just been startled. He's only 75 yards off but your gun is still hanging from your stand rope and he's looking right at you. A few moments pass and the buck figures it's about time to get out of dodge before that idiot climbing down the tree starts shooting at him.

If this sounds familiar to you it's because it happens to most of us. Seems like the older I get, I just can't handle the cold like I did 25 years ago. Yes, I have hi-tech thermal underwear, plenty of layers of thin clothes and have a nice thick hunting jacket and wear a real good hat. I have a nice set of Sorel boots and a layer of sock liners and wool socks on my feet. No matter, I still start to freeze my chops off after about an hour and half or so in the typical 20 degree temperatures and breezy conditions we hunt in in the North East.

Thing is the deer move pretty good from sun up to about 10:00 or so. Bailing from the stand too early really puts a damper on my odds of connecting with a buck. I'll still hunt for a while and warm up then get back in the stand, but as we all know the odds go way in the favor of the deer when we're moving around.

What can you do? External heat sources! Modern technology comes to the rescue again. You ever use those little chemical hand warmers? They work great don't they? There are little packs like that are meant to work in your boots, but I don't find them to be too effective. They sell these chemical heater boot liner pads that look like those foam shoe inserts, and they really keep the old dogs warm a good long time. Matter of fact I normally take them out of my boots to still hunt because my feet get too hot.

But the best one is those chemical heat pads used to treat people with sore backs. I put on my high tech thermal underwear then strap on one of those back heating belts. Put the rest of my clothes on over it and it takes maybe 15 to 20 minutes for it to heat up. Let me tell you, this set up gives me at least another couple of hours in the stand and gets me to 10:00 without turning into a solid block of ice.

The back heating pad, the hand warmers and the boot liners cost about $5.00 for a day. My local grocery store sells these items. I think that's a bargain for increasing the enjoyment of my hunting time.

Customer Review: Love 'em
Bought these boots for my first winter in Minnesota. They are easy to pull on and off, keep my feet toasty, and look good, too!
Customer Review: Poor design...
Nice looking and I'm sure they're warm and dry, but when zipped open you only get about two inches added opening. Makes it tight to squeeze into the boot and a real chore to stuff pants into there (if you have straight cut jeans they won't fit over the boot). I'm sending 'em back.

Buying snow boots for children or for boys, girls or even for little kids? Good thing about snow boots is they don't differ much and have almost the common features as women's snow boots and men's snow boots. But you need to make a difference between winter boots and snow boots as they are worn in wet conditions too, unlike the former.

Winter boots specifically cater to long time snow wearing in little wet or muddy condition and rarely offer features commonly found in snow boots. Consider the following points when buying snow boots.

1. Height of snow boots must be sufficient to prevent snow entry. Ideally they extend beyond ankles but usually above the pants' hemline. Generally they are 7.9" tall for both women and men.

2. The uppers need to have leathers or synthetic leathers with seams taped or sealed for wetness protection. Fleeced cuffs with or without drawcords prevent snow entry to protect from cold and frost bite. Alternately, North Face Boots and Salomon Boots have tested successfully with soft acrylic wools in place of wools. Sorel Boots offers vulcanized rubber toe and side covers.

3. Look for soles; 100% waterproofing needs to be the only invariable option. Consider ease of cleaning also, most of them can be just hosed off.

4. Check for the removable thermofelt inner boots which you may need for long treks.

5. Wear the snow boots before making the decision. Sizes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and from women's snow boots to men's snow boots. You need to be carefully even while changing your old brand; for example, Merrell Boots' size may differ from others'.

Occasionally, uppers with full grain leathers are PU coated for water proofing. Don't forget to check for breathability by trying it before you buy. Best time to buy snow boots is early spring when the cold is still setting.

The Wrekening: An Ancient Mirrors Tale

by Jayel Gibson

Synergy Books (2006)

ISBN 9781933538303

The Wrekening begins as the Feie named Brengven is searching for a meal and stumbles upon a cavern full of demonic stone soldiers. Opening a rift, he hurries to the fortress of the House of Aaradan where Yavie, the Dragon Queen, and her husband Sorel live with Yavies Guardians. Hearing the news of the discovery of the army and using the knowledge of the Ancient wizard, Grumblton, they decide that something must be done to collect and destroy the Wreken Shards, the heart shards of the Wreken Wyrms, or stubstrata dragons. Knowing that sending guardians would draw too much attention, they call upon the help of Nall and Naeres estranged daughter, Cwen and her friend Talin. At first they refuse, but Brengven, who was sent to convince them, finally succeeds after Caen, who has been good-naturedly stalking Cwen, gets shot by her.

The Feie uses Caen, who is somewhat of a rogue, to convince her by saying that he will take Caen on the quest and that she is too weak to complete the quest. In the end, all three of them accompany Brengven. Several days later, they are traveling through Spire Canyon when Cwen is captured by the Thralax, an intelligent, gorilla-like monster. Just as Cwen is escaping on her own, Caen and Talin come to rescue her and nearly kill the Thralax. Cwen saves it by way of a blood oath, and it is forever sworn to protect her. She steals its vast wealth and continues towards the first of the 13 Wreken Shards.

After Cwen and her group have collected the first and several other Wreken Shards, they get news that one town has already been attacked by a dark army set free from an underground cavern by an evil enchantress. When Nall comes to tell them to speed up, he is nearly killed by Cwen, but nevertheless, they hasten in their task as more armies are awakened and more towns are destroyed. As Caen tries to worm his way into Cwens heart, Klaed, the son of a councilman who like Cwen and Talin refused to be guardians, shows up and vies for Cwens affections. Can Cwen and her friends recover and destroy all the Wreken Shards before Aedracmorae is destroyed?

In this second book of the Ancient Mirror series, Jayel Gibson not only writes well, but also draws the reader in to this mesmerizing story. The Wrekening is a book for teens that would enjoy reading about fantasy, dragons and dark armies.

Dragon Queen begins in the land of Aestretfordae when the Ancients summon the three Guardians of Aestretfordae. The three guardians, Yavie, Ryden and Nall, are given gifts and great power. During their training, Nall and Yavie are hunting when Nall is injured by the slitherwort poison, and Yavie must give him a blood oath to save his life. Then, the guardians begin their first quest which was to contact the dragon flytes, or groups of dragons. Nall contacts the Ice and Accordant flytes and must do a quest for each of them. Yavies flytes are the Wind and War dragons. Rydens only flyte is the Sea dragons, but Ryden has the hardest quest because she hates dragons, and they hate her.

During her quest to kill a magical beast and retrieve a pearl, Ryden makes a deal with the siren to help her kill the beast and make her beautiful if only Ryden will do the siren one favor. Once the quests are completed, war breaks out when one of the three kingdoms created by Yavie begins attacking dragons. When an Ice dragon is killed, the war escalates but ends quickly when the other two kingdoms band with the dragon flytes and the guardians to destroy the third kingdom. After the war, Yavie journeys to the Fortress of the Dragon Queen and becomes the Dragon Queen. Ryden betrays the others and tries to kill Yavie, but is killed by Sorel, a guardian from Aeshardae. Yavie must immediately renounce her queendom and remove her blood oath with Nall, so that she, Nall, a re-born Ryden, Sorel and his sister, Naere, and Galen, the King of the Galenites who owed a blood oath to Yavie from a past life, can quest to rejoin the Seven Kingdoms of Aedracmorae.

Jayel Gibson writes well but sometimes I didnt get drawn in. Despite this, the storyline is creative and the characters are engaging. Dragon Queen is like chocolate pudding: hard to walk through, but pretty good. Fantasy readers will enjoy this book. This is Book One of The Ancient Mirror series.
