Customer Review: Warm boot perfect for kids
These boots are a bit heavy but perfect for kids when they play outside in the snow. They keep the feet of my son dry and warm. The price is some what high, but what you pay is what you get. Next time I would buyt hem again.
Customer Review: Sorel Quality
Typical sorel quality. Boots are warm, easy to get on and off, and not too heavy. Our son likes wearing them.

For centuries people have dug for them, went in debt for them, some have even stole for them. The incomparable diamond has caused the world over to fall in love with them, the temptation and desire to own them really is simply irresistible.

There is nothing a woman can wear that makes her feel more beautiful than diamonds. When men wear them they might not feel beautiful, but it does give them a feeling of power and success that they do not get from wearing any other gem stone.

The power of the diamond to alter someones state of mind is magical. No one can really explain how they weave this unmatchable spell over people.

Diamonds were first discovered in India several thousand years ago, but did not begin to infiltrate Europe until around the 12th century. In the beginning of this era, only the kings and queens of royalty had access to diamonds.

It was not until later that other minor peerage began to wear them. The first commoner recorded to have worn diamonds was Agnes Sorel. She was a well known mistress to King Charles VII of France in the middle of the 15th century.

Until Agnes, there were laws forbidding anyone but nobles and clergy to wear the mystifying stones, but at that time if you were a mistress of the king, in some cases you might be above the law. In her case, since the diamonds she received was from the king himself, so no one dared to question her.

When in the 1870's the famous mines of South Africa were discovered, the diamonds popularity with average people began an escalation that has never stopped and has gained momentum ever since. Of coarse, the largest and most famous diamonds are still associated with only royalty and the very rich.

Those of us with average incomes are generally lucky to own a diamond of one to three carets. Even diamonds of less than one caret are treasured by the men and women who own them. These smaller diamonds are commonly given as gifts and are always received with great gratitude.

It seems that with a diamond, the size of the stone is not necessarily a factor. It is more just the fact that you are wearing one that gives a great satisfaction. Everyone would love to own bigger diamonds, but if you can not afford bigger, then smaller will do

Customer Review: Love 'em
Bought these boots for my first winter in Minnesota. They are easy to pull on and off, keep my feet toasty, and look good, too!
Customer Review: Poor design...
Nice looking and I'm sure they're warm and dry, but when zipped open you only get about two inches added opening. Makes it tight to squeeze into the boot and a real chore to stuff pants into there (if you have straight cut jeans they won't fit over the boot). I'm sending 'em back.

What is the best rubber boot you can get for the woman in your life? When it came time to find rubber boots for my wife, I was a little lost. There are many options and lots of brands out there, but they all looked the same to me. What I can tell you that may help, though, is that there are definitely a few brands you should consider when it comes time to purchase rubber boots for the woman in your life.
When the skies are gray and the weather is gloomy, there is not better time for your woman to be able to put on a pair of colorful rubber boots to protect her feet from the rain. There are a number of rubber boots for rain protection out there, but some are just a little more fashionable than others. Here are a few options you should consider when you go to purchase rubber boots for the woman in your life.
Gabriella Rocha makes a great waterproof rubber boot for wear in the rain. They are vivid and comfortable according to many. They are offered in shades of purple or brown. These rubber boots even offer an adjustable strap on the top buckle to get that great fit while still looking stylish and keep those feet dry on a rainy day.
Wellington offers rubber boots for the rain that can be described only as funky. With a variety of colors and designs, your woman can really make a fashion statement even in rubber boots. Check out the Wellington website to see their wide selection of rubber boots in all colors and sizes that will surely make a statement on a rainy day.
When it comes to womens fashion, it seems you can always count on Polo Sport. Polo Sport offers a boot called Palau. This is a knee-high rubber boot made for wear in the rain. They are perfect if your woman loves the idea of bright and vivid colors, but doesnt want a patter. They are available in re, royal blue, or fuschia and really make a statement against the dark clouds of the next rainy day.
Lastly, when it comes time to shop for womens rubber boots, you may want to take a look at Sorel. Sorel offers their Chukka ankle rain boots. These rubber ankle boots are a great way for her to keep her feet dry and comfortable. They offer elastic goring as well as a pull tab on the back to get them off easily. They are simple to get on and are also available in four colors so that she can still make a statement. Get these rubber ankle boots in red, purple, blue, or yellow.
Getting rubber boots may seem like a simple thing to do initially, but your lady wants more than just an old black rubber boot with a red sole. She wants something that will be comfy and fashionable for her. To get what you need, take a look at some of these fashions available at your local shoe store or online. Dont worry, you can do it.

Sorel Men's Intrepid Explorer -100 Winter Boot

Designed for the adventurer looking for a boot with serious cold weather applications Waterproof nylon upper with built in gaiter and snow cuff Warm fleece lining Removable molded EVA footbed Rubber sole grips even in slushy conditions Removable 13mm ThermoPlus® felt InnerBoot 17mm EVA internal midsole Removable 13mm Sorel Meltdown MidsoleTM Rubber slush guard Rated to -100°F (-73.3°C)
Customer Review: Clunky...
Firstly, I found that the sizing ran small, not large, like the other reviewers. I am a 9 1/2 to 10, so I ordered the 9 as was recommended; my toes were so squashed that I could not move them. 10s are not available right now, so I'm returning the boots, and probably trying the Conquest. Secondly, the boots are very awkward to walk in. They truly are platform boots; your foot is at least 1 1/2 (maybe 2) inches off the ground. Hermon Munster boots, yes. Maybe even boots from the rock band KISS. They feel ridiculous. You could never walk any distance in these. I have not doubt they will keep you warm, but they'll only be comfortable if you're standing still or sitting. Also, with only three or four laces, it feels like you're going to walk right out of them; I can't imagine how this 'negative' would amplify if I tried the 10s. Ice fishing.... they'd be great. Moving around in the snow.... get something that will stay on your feet.
Customer Review: Very Nice Boots
The Intrepid Explorer boots are the best boots I've ever owned. They are very warm. They are a little awkward at first due to its large external size, but one will quickly get used to walking in them in no time. It also took about 15 minutes to break them in. If you're familiar with Herman Munster, the boots resemble his shoes and size. And as Big Bob pointed out, these boots are large internally, too. I'm a size 8.5 to 9 and am glad I purchased the size 8's (great tip, Big Bob). There is enough room on the inside of the boots for someone who wants to wear multiple pairs of socks. Although a bit pricey, I highly recommend these boots.

The other deck of XVIII century was described by Breitkopf: "this deck has four suits: Ven (civil), Woo (military), Co (science), Juan (0cademy), nine cards each suit. Each card has a corresponding title within this suit. In such a way we have the most important ranks of the civil hierarchy and in particular the most important officers from minor to senior".

Prunner has distinguished three main elements in the Chinese cards of XVII: literary quotations; toasts and wishes; suits in the form of monetary denomination (from hundred thousands and tens of thousands to hundreds and coins). Later on the officials and toasts disappeared from the cards and only citation and money remained. The most famous Chinese cards are money cards. The value of the card is determined by the denomination of the money cord.

The most ancient Japanese cards were produced from the shells and were intended for literary entertainments of the educated public. The lines from the poems were depicted on the shells. The aim of the game was to correctly combine the shells (to compose a poem). This game was a predecessor of the game called "one hundred poets". The classical collection of poems of hundred of poets of VII-XIII centuries was presented on these cards in the following manner: one card with an image of the poet, the other one with a line or lines from his poem. The players should properly match the cards.

Heraldic cards.

Their appearance in XVII century is associated with the name of Claude Oronce Fine, who published one of the first decks with coat of arms under the pseudonym of de Brainville in 1660 in Lion: Jeu de Blason, Father Mnestrier, who issued the same deck of cards a couple years later, tells about the first unexpected troubles of Fine: some princes were seriously offended that they were depicted as jacks and aces. The cards were confiscated by the magistrate and Fine had to change the pictures. However, soon the author of the deck became very successful and the cards were reissued with new coat of arms. A community of young noblemen called "Armorists" was formed in Naples; they studied coat of arms of numerous noble families. From Naples the idea reached Venice. In 1682 Benedictine, Dom Kasimir Frescott, offered to the Doge of Venice and to the senate Venetian the deck with coat of arms of Venetian noblemen. The supplementary book to the deck said: "Virtue in game or famous Venetians from patrician families".

Decks of historic gambling cards.

The subject of the pictures on the cards were historical personalities. Depicting of the heroes of the ancient times (Alexander the Great, Caesar, Carl the Great, etc.) as card kings, antique goddesses and great women (Athena, Jeanne d'Arc, Judith and others.) as queens, outstanding brave men (Hector, Decius, Lancelot, etc.) as jacks - became a tradition almost from the very birth of the cards production in Europe. The artists painted the card characters similar to real life modern monarchs, commanders and their ladyloves of their times (Karl VII, Agns Sorel etc.). For example, in time of the Great French revolution, the monarchs on the cards were replaced with free-thinkers and tyrant fighters: Voltaire, Hannibal, Horace, La Fontaine, Molire, Rousseau, Saint-Simon. Many cards of great art value were painted by the famous artists and engravers on the order of the high and mighties. So, the cards present a priceless historical material that enables to conduct numerous researches and studies.

Sorel Winter Boots

It's 8:30 in the morning, and you have been in your tree stand since six. It's clear and 20 degrees out with a slight breeze. Your feet have been cold for the better part of an hour, you hands are numb and you are starting to shake from the cold and you can't stop it. You finally give in and have got to get out of that stand and walk around to warm up.

As your foot hits the ground you hear that old familiar snort of big buck that's just been startled. He's only 75 yards off but your gun is still hanging from your stand rope and he's looking right at you. A few moments pass and the buck figures it's about time to get out of dodge before that idiot climbing down the tree starts shooting at him.

If this sounds familiar to you it's because it happens to most of us. Seems like the older I get, I just can't handle the cold like I did 25 years ago. Yes, I have hi-tech thermal underwear, plenty of layers of thin clothes and have a nice thick hunting jacket and wear a real good hat. I have a nice set of Sorel boots and a layer of sock liners and wool socks on my feet. No matter, I still start to freeze my chops off after about an hour and half or so in the typical 20 degree temperatures and breezy conditions we hunt in in the North East.

Thing is the deer move pretty good from sun up to about 10:00 or so. Bailing from the stand too early really puts a damper on my odds of connecting with a buck. I'll still hunt for a while and warm up then get back in the stand, but as we all know the odds go way in the favor of the deer when we're moving around.

What can you do? External heat sources! Modern technology comes to the rescue again. You ever use those little chemical hand warmers? They work great don't they? There are little packs like that are meant to work in your boots, but I don't find them to be too effective. They sell these chemical heater boot liner pads that look like those foam shoe inserts, and they really keep the old dogs warm a good long time. Matter of fact I normally take them out of my boots to still hunt because my feet get too hot.

But the best one is those chemical heat pads used to treat people with sore backs. I put on my high tech thermal underwear then strap on one of those back heating belts. Put the rest of my clothes on over it and it takes maybe 15 to 20 minutes for it to heat up. Let me tell you, this set up gives me at least another couple of hours in the stand and gets me to 10:00 without turning into a solid block of ice.

The back heating pad, the hand warmers and the boot liners cost about $5.00 for a day. My local grocery store sells these items. I think that's a bargain for increasing the enjoyment of my hunting time.

The Wrekening: An Ancient Mirrors Tale

by Jayel Gibson

Synergy Books (2006)

ISBN 9781933538303

The Wrekening begins as the Feie named Brengven is searching for a meal and stumbles upon a cavern full of demonic stone soldiers. Opening a rift, he hurries to the fortress of the House of Aaradan where Yavie, the Dragon Queen, and her husband Sorel live with Yavies Guardians. Hearing the news of the discovery of the army and using the knowledge of the Ancient wizard, Grumblton, they decide that something must be done to collect and destroy the Wreken Shards, the heart shards of the Wreken Wyrms, or stubstrata dragons. Knowing that sending guardians would draw too much attention, they call upon the help of Nall and Naeres estranged daughter, Cwen and her friend Talin. At first they refuse, but Brengven, who was sent to convince them, finally succeeds after Caen, who has been good-naturedly stalking Cwen, gets shot by her.

The Feie uses Caen, who is somewhat of a rogue, to convince her by saying that he will take Caen on the quest and that she is too weak to complete the quest. In the end, all three of them accompany Brengven. Several days later, they are traveling through Spire Canyon when Cwen is captured by the Thralax, an intelligent, gorilla-like monster. Just as Cwen is escaping on her own, Caen and Talin come to rescue her and nearly kill the Thralax. Cwen saves it by way of a blood oath, and it is forever sworn to protect her. She steals its vast wealth and continues towards the first of the 13 Wreken Shards.

After Cwen and her group have collected the first and several other Wreken Shards, they get news that one town has already been attacked by a dark army set free from an underground cavern by an evil enchantress. When Nall comes to tell them to speed up, he is nearly killed by Cwen, but nevertheless, they hasten in their task as more armies are awakened and more towns are destroyed. As Caen tries to worm his way into Cwens heart, Klaed, the son of a councilman who like Cwen and Talin refused to be guardians, shows up and vies for Cwens affections. Can Cwen and her friends recover and destroy all the Wreken Shards before Aedracmorae is destroyed?

In this second book of the Ancient Mirror series, Jayel Gibson not only writes well, but also draws the reader in to this mesmerizing story. The Wrekening is a book for teens that would enjoy reading about fantasy, dragons and dark armies.
